Theme: House, home and interiors.
The home to many is usually associated with stability, security and protection. It can however, be a place of loneliness, entrapment and fear. So in this sense, the concept of home is a false one. The individual pieces of art have their own meanings, but when combined together, a tension is created within the space. This tension lies in the conflict between the opposing values of old and new, order and chaos, reality and illusion. These impassive functional objects create a sense of tension demonstrating the inner truths of home. What first appears to be reality may in fact be a facade.
The theme of house, home and their interiors are used in my art work to represent my own memories of the homes I lived in as a child; not simply in the physical sense, but also in a psychological sense.
